The Academy of Russian Classical Ballet announces the addition of three world class instructors to its professional trainee programs.

The Academy of Russian Classical Ballet was founded in 2004 to offer classical ballet studies to students from ages 3 to adult, beginners to advanced. In the past year, in addition to its ongoing classes, it created a full-time professional trainee program for students who intend to make ballet a career, the only such program of its kind in Michigan. The Academy is excited to announce the addition to two world-class ballet instructors for the professional trainee program: Marianna Lobanova is a graduate of Russia’s Saratov State Choreographic Institute. Upon graduation she joined the Saratov State Ballet Theatre, and later the Lvov Ballet Theatre. As a professional ballerina she performed the theatre’s entire classical repertoire. Madame Lobanova began her teaching career in Lvov, where she was invited to move to St. Petersburg to study full time in the Pedagogy program. She received her Master’s Degree in Vaganova Ballet Pedagogy from the famed Vaganova Academy of St. Petersburg, graduating with high honors. Upon graduation from the Vaganova Academy’s teaching program, Madame Lobanova was invited to study at the world renowned GITIS (Russian University of Theatrical Arts) in Moscow, where she received an additional degree in Ballet Pedagogy. Madame Lobanova is the only ballet instructor in the United States who has pedagogy degrees from both the Vaganova Academy and GITIS. She was a senior level instructor for Russia’s Saratov State Choreographic Institute. Madame Lobanova served as the leading ballet mistress for the Kirov Academy of Ballet for nine years before joining the Academy of Russian Classical Ballet. She was awarded the highest medal for achievement in the arts by the Russian government. She has trained numerous professional dancers throughout the world, and is widely regarded as one of the best Vaganova ballet instructors of our time.

Olga Korotaeva graduated with honors from the world famous Perm State Choreographic Institute (Perm Ballet Academy). Upon graduation, she joined the Perm Ballet Theatre where she performed extensively with the company in all of the major classical ballets, including Sleeping Beauty, Le Corsaire, Don Quixote, Nutcracker, Swan Lake, Coppelia, and many more. Following a successful career as a professional ballerina, Madame Korotaeva received her Masters Degree in Vaganova Ballet Pedagogy and Character Dance from the Moscow State Choreographic Institute (Bolshoi Ballet). She is the only ballet instructor in Michigan with a degree from this institution. In 2005 Madame Korotaeva joined the year-round staff of the Perm State Choreographic Institute, where she was a full-time faculty member conducting ballet, character and historical dance classes for 11 years. Her students have won many international competitions and are performing professionally throughout Russian and Europe. She is a highly sought-after ballet instructor and teaches master classes throughout the world including Japan and Europe. Madame Korotaeva conducts the Vaganova Ballet Pedagogy training courses for the Perm State Choreographic Institute, and trains teachers in the highest levels of the Vaganova method. She was also an annual guest instructor for Perm-Japan Ballet Institute in Tokyo, and a judge for the International Ballet Competition in Nara, Japan.

Classes are offered six days per week at the Academy’s spacious studios located at 46969 West Road in Wixom. For more information contact the Academy at (248) 826-8181 or visit its web page at
